Video Spotlight – Beginners Guide

Quality content, regardless the medium, should be celebrated.  Too often, hard work is overlooked for no other reason than the information overload that the internet provides.  That’s where FW’s Video Spotlight comes in.  Every Thursday, we’ll post a “video of the week” that was produced by the intrepid capsuleers plowing the space lanes of New Eden.  See an awesome propaganda video?  A crazy recap of fleet action?  A tutorial for those just breaking in to factional warfare?  Something else EVE-related?  Send it our way to

With the recent fight in B-R5RB, mentioned here in another Video Spotlight article, there has been a massive influx of new players to the game. Many of these new players find themselves floundering. Overwhelmed with the amount of content and complexity in the game. Wondering how they will ever get to the point that they can be part of something like that great battle. Today, I’m putting the Video Spotlight on a very well done beginners guide to EVE. Created 3 years ago by Scott Manley, this video goes over a large variety of things such as the cost of subscription, PLEX buying and selling, graphics requirements, and more. Some of the content is slightly out of date, as can be expected with a video this old. For the most part though, everything he says is correct and it’s still relevant to this day. With 776,490 views at the time of this posting, this video has been a successful introduction to many new EVE pilots. Due to the large influx of new players sending me emails asking questions, I decided that some content catering to newbies was in order, starting with this video.

About Subsparx

Subsparx has been playing EVE for 10 years now, dabbling in many things but avoiding Null-Sec. He spends most of his time supplying militia with various services, from information and news articles to a public TeamSpeak and Forum, which sadly results in undocking less often than he would like.
