Faction Warfare Fitting Lab: Jambalaya

Welcome to another one of my masterful concoction of PVP goodness. Today I bring you one of the many soon to come articles about CCP’s introduction of the New Faction Frigate/Support/Brawler/Type Ship Things. Right off the bat, I must start with my instant love, the Griffin Navy Issue. As a solo PVP’er I get a lot of time fighting tooth and nail for a kill. In a fleet environment I highly prefer the support role as it gives a change of pace and a much enjoyed class I generally cannot fly anywhere else…………. until now.

The Hull:

Griffin Navy Issue

Caldari Frigate bonuses (Per skill level): 20% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret damage (Dps support.. yes please.)

Caldari Frigate bonuses (Per skill level): 20% bonus to ECM target Jammer Strength. (100% bonus to ECM strength? This… is really amazing.)

The Fit:

[Griffin Navy Issue, Jam]

‘Hypnos’ Signal Distortion Amplifier I
Damage Control II

5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive
Warp Scrambler II
Stasis Webifier II
Republic Fleet Medium Shield Extender
‘Hypnos’ Ion Field ECM I

Light Ion Blaster II, Void S
[Empty High slot] Light Ion Blaster II, Void S

Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II
Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer II

Warrior II x1

  • EG-603

  • 11.7 Jam Strength (Permanent jams on most T1 frigs, 80% or better on Pirate/Faction Frigs8k EHP)
  • 200 DPS
  • 8.5k EHP (60/54/47/56 Pretty decent for a faction frigate. Mucho Tanko)
  • 3592 m/s Speed C (Thats almost Jimmy John’s Fast)

  • 2 Low Slots
  • Low Kin/Therm Resist (In solo its best to cover most resists as best as possible. However this ship could easily drop down to 1 Em rig and 2 Therm rigs to give more sustain against heavy damage blaster boats, if you don’t land a jam on them that is.)

How to Fly:

Ok so basically you have a very strong very short range jam. You’re very fast and you can catch basic kiters if you warp into them (Avoid Garmurs, Worms, Dramiels*). Pirate and Faction Cruisers with good ECCM Skills can get up to 13.2 Strength, taking those fights is up to pilot skills and luck on jams.

If you’re plexing, this thing does Novices quickly and Smalls moderately fast. Your best case scenario is any T1 frig > Faction > Pirate in that order. If you’re against an Astero, just kill its drones – it will never kill you. You will jam it every now and again but its likely not to have guns to begin with. Tristan’s are dangerous to take in this ship. However, most Tristan’s bank on speed or neuts. A Tristan warping into you is a much better situation, but still a tough win.

So get inside a Novice, tackle and jam all the things, and rake up the kill-mails.

*Dramiel’s are a special case, if they are kite arty you will never catch them. If they are brawler they will die, so long as you jam more than you miss.

  1. What is the fitting tool you’re using there? Doesn’t appear to be EFT.
